About 155.7 million Americans are planning to take advantage of Super Saturday sales to complete their holiday gift list, according to the annual survey by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.
The survey underlined that the average holiday shopper has completed 52.5 per cent of their shopping, down from last year’s 53.5 per cent. 44.7 per cent people revealed that they are still deciding what to buy, while 27.2 per cent stated that they are waiting for requests from loved ones. 27 per cent have other financial priorities before December and 25 per cent said they are too busy with other activities which have delayed/restricted their time to shop for the holidays.

More than 38 per cent were planning to purchase their last holiday gift before 18th December, up from 33 per cent last year. Although 12 per cent of consumers are planning to wait until 23rd December. Pointing out on last-minute shoppers, the report pointed that 52 per cent are planning to purchase their gifts online, 42 per cent from department stores, 27 per cent from discount stores, 21 per cent from clothing or accessories stores, 18 per cent from electronics stores, 14 per cent from local/small business and 13 per cent from grocery/supermarket stores.

The survey results also highlighted that 48 per cent of consumers are planning to take advantage of in-store after-Christmas sales which was 47 per cent last year and 44 per cent are planning to shop online.
