Akutee has introduced its new festive wear line, ‘Nostalgia,’ for the upcoming wedding and festive season. This collection features hand-painted designs on hand-woven textiles, blending traditional and fusion styles.
“Our Nostalgia collection aims to evoke a sense of tranquillity and wonder, transporting the wearer to a realm where the beauty of nature intertwines with the artistry of fashion,” said Akutee’s founder Sagarika Ghatge Khan in a press release. “Each piece celebrates the mesmerizing balance between strength and poise, embodying the spirit of the creatures that inspired it while offering a modern interpretation of their timeless allure.”
Central to the collection are peacock motifs, painted across iridescent sarees in shades of ivory and champagne. The line also features natural elements such as flowers, butterfly wings, and various bird species, creating a vibrant menagerie across its flowing textiles.
The colour palette of the ‘Nostalgia’ collection includes greens and purples set against natural hues and metallic golds and silvers. Textiles such as silk, chiffon, and organza add movement to the line, contrasted by more structured garments like evening-style blazers.
In addition to expanding Akutee’s evening wear range, ‘Nostalgia’ emphasizes handloom textiles throughout its designs. Sagarika Ghatge Khan’s mother, Urmila Ghatge, has trained Akutee’s artisans to create the collection’s hand-painted motifs, which are subtly adorned with beadwork.
