E-commerce compan0079 Amazon India is partnering with Weavesmart to promote handloom products and market on its marketspace. Notably, Weavesmart is an e-store that brings handloom products directly from the weavers in partnership with the Textile Ministry.
The retail collaboration is expected to benefit thousands of handicraft weavers. A wider exposure will be given to them alongside providing them with a platform – Amazon which has massive reach in India – to showcase their work.
At present, Weavesmart has over 3,000 weavers on board and retails their 20,000-plus products. CEO Nishita Manne reportedly said that Indian workers make some of the best handicraft and handloom products which always generate interest among urban shoppers. The e-retail platform on Amazon will increase the financial earnings of the weavers besides promoting the items.
Nishita further elucidated that Weavesmart was started with the sole purpose of providing a platform to the weavers and customers and the collaboration with Amazon India will help them reach this objective in an even better way.
Amazon.in has previously partner to promote handicrafts and handlooms online for Telangana, West Bengal, Orissa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, notably.
Gopal Pillai Director and GM of Seller Services, Amazon India, said that the aim is to give a bigger surface to handloom and handicraft products to prosper with the vast experience and customer base that Amazon has. “The collaboration with Weavesmart will have a positive impact on the lives of the weavers associated with it,” he maintained.
