Flipkart on Wednesday shared that it delivered more than 10 million orders in the first 5 days of its flagship Big Billion Days sale.
As compared to last year’s sale, the company has noted that it experienced 10 times growth this time around.
Fashion has been one of the top selling categories with broad-based growth; other leading segments include smartphones, electronics, furniture, large appliances and general merchandise.
The company witnessed 110 order placements per second.
The Walmart-owned e-commerce major recorded 666 million consumer visits, 52 per cent of which were from Tier-3 cities and beyond.
Commenting on the company’s objective for this year’s festive season, Nandita Sinha, Vice President – Customer Growth and Engagement at Flipkart, averred that it “has been to bring resilience back into the community.”
She went on add that the revival in demand and resurgence of consumption are expected to sustain even after the sale days.
Flipkart also said that this year, the Big Billion Days sale saw 1.5 times the number of transacting sellers in comparison to the last year – and more than 35 per cent of these experienced three times more sales as compared to last year.
