India’s celebrated and innovative couture designer Gaurav Gupta launched a brand-new luxury online retail experience for its customers on 5 September.
Within just 2 days of the opening, the label managed to collect impressive sales, encouraging the designer to further expand his e-commerce services, and also increase his use of technology.
Gaurav’s e-store – www.gauravguptastudio.com – sold 200 pieces in the first 2 days, reported Vogue India.
Sharing the concerns he had before launching the online platform, Gaurav said, “We were always a little skeptical of offering couture online because of counterfeits and were unsure if people were ready to make heavy purchases online.”
Though the designer’s eponymous label had initially planned to introduce only its ready-to-wear or a certain segment online, the global COVID-19 pandemic that affected several businesses shifting focus to e-commerce played a crucial role in leading the brand to take all its collections online.
So far as Gaurav’s future plans are concerned, he will soon be organising exclusive ready-to-wear and jewellery launches online.
Technology is of paramount significance in this day and age, and the ace designer realises that – precisely which is why he plans to explore the use of augmented reality (AR) as a design tool for his future collections.
