The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has recently received a repeat order – and the biggest order so far – for the supply of as many as 10.5 lakh high-quality face masks to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), an India-based voluntary humanitarian organisation working towards protecting human life and health.
What’s noteworthy here is that it’s not been even a month since the previous order for 1.80 lakh face masks came to KVIC; 1.60 lakh face masks have already been supplied to the Society from that order.
The rest of the first order will be completed in a couple of days.
The supply for the latest order, worth Rs. 3.30 crore, will begin this week itself, KVIC stated.
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for MSME, appreciated KVIC’s efforts for playing a key role in creating employment for a large number of artisans in the country.
The new order will create almost 50,000 additional man days for Khadi artisans.
More than 1 lakh metres of handmade cotton Khadi fabric, supplied by various Khadi institutions from different states, will be required to execute this order.
