In order to create an underwear that is more inclusive for transgender and non-binary persons, the Indian innerwear company Tailor and Circus has teamed up with the gender-neutral clothing company Generation Mixx.
The brand posted on Facebook that the bottomwear in the innerwear collection is made to accommodate both genders.
Bright colours and pop-inspired motifs are featured in the new bottomwear collection from Tailor and Circus.
The innerwear has flat, contoured seams that enable the changeable pouch inside to accommodate various body types as needed.
Ruchika Parab, Co-founder of Generation Mixx, said of the line, “It’s not the ideal solution for all anatomies yet, but it’s a start, adding“The purpose of the product and campaign is to get consumer input and build upon it further.”
According to Abishek Elango, head of Tailor and Circus, “There are some challenges that make it hard to assess what kind of underwear might work for a trans person without it being evaluated on a case-by-case basis, or at least within subsections of the trans community. The word ‘trans’ is limited and inappropriate at a product differentiation level since it doesn’t really tell what type of requirements is there in terms of aesthetic, shape or functionality.”
