One of the biggest international design communities, the World Designing Forum, has announced the opening of India’s first Handloom Cluster and Apparel Designing hub in Agra.
According to a statement from the Forum, this effort is set to completely change the fashion industry by presenting designer clothing manufactured from handlooms all over India, with a focus on the large number of foreign visitors that come to Agra every year.
The hub is a joint venture between RVA and the World Designing Forum and is situated near the well-known “I Love Agra Selfie Point.” Handlooms and natural threads are used to set up the hub. The Agra Development Authority has declared that weekly programmes would now be organised, and RVA will be awarded the contract to establish a temporary apparel centre.
A World Couture League has been established to promote handloom globally, according to the World Designing Forum. It will arrange yearly handloom design competitions involving 20 Indian states. Prominent national luminaries including Shekhar Dikshit, Dr. Ranjana Bansal, and entrepreneur Puran Dawar are members of the league. After the effort in Agra proved successful, Shekhar Dikshit, a member of the National Core Committee, revealed intentions to establish handloom hubs of a similar nature in Jaipur, Goa, and Kanyakumari.
Ankush Anami, CEO of the World Designing Forum, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with the Agra Development Authority and RVA, stating, “The I Love Agra Selfie Point embodies our vision of integrating design and culture to create memorable experiences for tourists. By showcasing the finest handloom products and designer garments, we aim to not only promote India’s rich heritage but also empower local artisans and craftsmen.”
