Sri Mahasakthi Mills, Coimbatore, one of the leading companies into spinning as well as other diversified industries, is now focusing more on apparel manufacturing and is planning to invest Rs. 25 crore in the same regard.
The company will most probably initiate a garment manufacturing unit in Ethiopia. As of now, it has the production capacity of 80,000 pieces per month in India.
“By expanding into apparels, we will be adding more value to our existing textile value chain. We are planning for investment in Africa. We have explored Ethiopia and I am again going there. Probably we might have a unit there in 2019.” – T Rajkumar, Chairman, Sri Mahasakthi Mills Limited, Kerala and ED, Sakthi Group, Textile Division told Apparel Resources.
T Rajkumar who is also closely associated with leading textile association like Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) further added that some of the Indian companies have their plants into Ethiopia who gave positive feedback about it to him.
In garments, the company is working for export as well as Indian domestic market. Some of its prestigious clients are Arvind Ltd., Lifestyles etc. It is also talking to international buyers for tie ups. The company produces 100 per cent knitted garments like Tees, breast and brief.
