Concern for safety and sustainability has always been at the fore of DuPont. The company always puts its science to work by creating sustainable solutions for safer and healthier life.
In its endeavour, DuPont has launched Kevlar® XP for Hard Armor to create lighter and safer helmets providing extra protection and extra performance in ballistic applications. The product is initially targeted for military and police helmets, and tactical plates used in ballistic protective vests.
Reduction in weight is most essential in combat zones where soldiers and marines are working in adverse conditions, working under stressful physical environments and where moving quickly and efficiently is very important for their protection. Keeping this in view, DuPont has introduced its Kevlar® XP Hard Armor helmets that weighs only half-a-pound (0.5 lb.) which is much less as compared to the present Advanced Combat Helmets (ACH) used by the US military which weigh over four pounds.
Other than helmets and tactical plate designs, Kevlar® XP for Hard Armor can offer 20 per cent higher ballistic performance and increase protection. “DuPont is committed to protecting people around the world through science-based innovations. One of our goals is to provide the US military with new products that provide significantly better protection for soldiers so they can more effectively complete their missions,” said Thomas G. Powell, President of DuPont Protection Technologies. “This launch reflects DuPont’s commitment to protecting people and the environment through innovative protective apparel, building materials, safety training and environmentally sensitive and sustainable solutions,” added Powell.
