Collective efforts are the need of the hour – especially for sustainability. Keeping this in view, the Coimbatore-based trade body Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF) has come forward to develop a sustainability blueprint for Tamil Nadu textile sector.
It has initiated a project ‘India for SURE’ with the concept of India as a Stable, Sustainable, Reliable, Ethical partner for sourcing fashion foods with Tamil Nadu Textile Sector as the base.
Today, on the World Environment Day, ITF launched the mega data collection initiative.
This authentic data, it believes, will create good visibility for the state’s textile sector in the International community and also create a trust in the ‘SURE’ model.
“There is a strong need that industry should shift its focus more towards areas of excellence and attract the attention of stakeholders towards it. And sustainability will be the key to achieve the same,” said Prabhu Dhamodharan, Convenor, ITF.
He added “As a first step, we are developing a sustainability blueprint with the objective of highlighting priority sustainability target areas and moving with a high-level direction to achieve the targets. The Blueprint will also showcase the achievements and the strengths of our member companies in sustainability.”
