Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has said that across the globe the textile sector employs many women and so a vibrant textile sector will add strength to efforts of women empowerment. He insisted to be ready for future in these challenging times.
The Prime Minister was addressing an International webinar on Textile Traditions organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Ambassadors of many countries and experts from across the globe participated in the event.
The Prime minister further added that textiles industry is a key industry that will help build an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
He also highlighted the strengths of Indian weavers who make world class products. “The textile sector has always brought opportunities and domestically, the sector is amongst the highest job providers in India,” he said.
He added “The Indian textile traditions have showcased powerful ideas and principles like diversity and adaptability, self-reliance, skill and innovation have become even more relevant now.”
