Bihar has assigned a project to Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) for development and promotion of Bihar State Handicrafts products. Under this project, EPCH will undertake various activities like skill development of the artisans, design support and clusters formation to present the handicrafts of Bihar at domestic and international market.
Senior team of EPCH, Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman; Dr. Rakesh Kumar, DG; RK Verma, ED, EPCH met Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Industries Minister, Bihar and discussed about this project.
The minister has assured full support to EPCH for the same.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bihar is focusing now to develop industries. Just few days ago, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain announced Bihar to have its textile policy soon.
EPCH officials highlighted that the unique features of art and crafts in Bihar are their intrinsic beauty and great creativeness. These creative beauties have been preserved in various forms such as in ancient stones, wooden structures, grass-clothes, lacquer and metal-wares.
Bihar’s craftsmen have excelled in manufacturing artistic goods which have great demands in local and international market. Major crafts of State of Bihar include Madhubani Painting, Rock Painting, Wooden Work, Pottery Work, Bamboo Work, Sikki Work, Brass Work, Tikuli Work, Zari Work, Kasida Work, Textile painting, Jewellery, Patna kalam and Lacquer Work.
