To celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” – an event to commemorate 75 years of Independence – the Department of Commerce is organising ‘Vanijya Saptah’ from 20 to 26 September 2021 on PAN India basis with a focus on economic growth, especially promotion of exports from India.
Various Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) are also part of these events.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of Vanijya Utsav at Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) in Apparel House, Gurgaon Director General of Industries and Commerce, Haryana Dr. Saket Kumar said that the country’s fifth largest exporting state is well prepared to significantly contribute towards realising the nation’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Haryana contributes about 4 per cent of India’s total exports. Exports from Haryana grew 152 per cent from Rs. 69,284 crore in fiscal 2014-15 to Rs. 1,74,572 crore in 2020-21, he said.
He also added that apparels contributed 10.19 per cent of Haryana’s total merchandise exports, while it was 20.64 per cent for handloom and handicraft in 2020-21.
Abhimaniu Sharma, Joint DGFT, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, urged the industry captains, especially from Haryana, to look into how they could take advantage of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
“We’re glad that AEPC has got the opportunity to conduct this event for the state of Haryana. Industries that were keen to import from China are now shifting to India. We have grown very well under the leadership of our dynamic PM Narendra Modi in the past few years,” AEPC Chairman Dr. A. Sakthivel said.
Panel discussions and exhibitions are being held at the two-day event to promote and facilitate exports from the state.
Exhibitions are showcasing products manufactured and exported from Haryana. These products are from various sectors like textiles and apparels, automobile, Basmati rice, agriculture products, engineering goods, footwear, handmade carpets and handloom.
In close coordination with Office of Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India and Department of Industries in various states, EPCH also put up a publicity promotional booth at New Delhi during ‘Vanijya Utsav’ held at The Theater Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Further, the EPCH is also participating in ‘Vanijya Saptah’ at various places like Bengaluru, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Leh, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna and Vijayawada, informed Dr. Rakesh Kumar, DG, EPCH.
