The Bihar State Government, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Textiles and AEPC, commenced a two-day Textile Investors’ Meet in Patna with the objective of establishing the state as a hub for textiles.
This is just a few months before the December 2024 Bihar Business Connect 2024 Global Investors’ Summit. The goal of the conference, according to Industry and Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra, is to establish the state as a textile hub, which will help create jobs and promote the state’s natural resources.
“The meet intends to showcase the state’s vast potential in the sector to the investors gathered from across the country. Investments in textile will further lead to employment opportunities for the local people,” said Mishra.
He added that a majority of youths working in the textile sector were from Bihar. “If the investors set up their units here, then our people would not need to migrate to other places. And even women can be part of the workforce,” the minister said.
Mishra further said the investors would find a readily available market here and that the state govt was prepared to provide all possible help to them, including land for setting up their units. “Thirty-one districts already have industrial areas and there is scope for land acquisition in the rest seven districts. Land can also be made available to the investors for setting up industrial units even in the 31 districts having designated industrial area,” said Mishra.
Ninety investors in total, including seventy of the nation’s largest corporations, are present for the two-day conference. According to the officials, on the first day of the event, about twenty-five of them took a tour of the Bela Industrial Area in Muzaffarpur. They also mentioned that investors associated with Jeevika and Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana are taking part.
The Bihar Government’s policies in this area will be thoroughly explained to investors during the technical and plenary sessions on the second day. On Friday, the second day of the event, various central Government officials including Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh are slated to participate.
