Priyanka Mallick, an Indian fashion designer, has been given the prestigious opportunity to design the outfits for King Charles III and Queen Camilla for their coronation ceremony on 6th May 2023.
The coronation ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey in the UK, and Priyanka Mallick has been given the task of designing the outfits for the newly-crowned king and queen. The Queen is expected to wear a red dress, while the King will sport a broach. Priyanka Mallick has been working with local input and stylists from London to create the perfect outfits for this historic event.
It is not the first time that Indian designers have made their mark on the international fashion scene. Priyanka’s achievement comes just after Alia Bhatt walked the red carpet at the Met Gala 2023 wearing a gown designed by Prabal Gurung, another Indian designer.
Priyanka Mallick has also received appreciation from the Queen for her dress design. In a letter, the Queen expressed her gratitude, saying, “Her Majesty was touched that you would think of her in this way and would have me thank you for taking the time to send us your sketches. You are a very talented artist. This comes with The Queen Consort’s warmest thanks.”
