The pioneer in Indian fashion innovation and novelty, the Lakmé Fashion Week is here with the 2018 Winter/Festive edition. An exciting line up of shows, designers, creative presentations and ideas is being promised for the event which will be held from 22nd to 26th August 2018 at St. Regis, Mumbai.
Powered by big names like Nexa, TRESemmé, Nokia, Etihad, Tencel, INIFD, etc., the coming season would be an amalgamation of the upcoming talent and existing names of the fashion industry.
Lakmé Fashion Week will also host two offsite shows at exclusive venues. Mona Jaisingh would be presenting as the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale Designer of the year with Cirque Du Soleil adding to the grandeur of the finale with their performance. Adding to the glamour of the entire show, the ultimate Diva, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be back on the runway of Lakmé Fashion Week as the grand finale’s showstopper.
As the second offsite show, the fashion enthusiasts will also witness the debut of Good Earth, for the first time since the inception of its clothing line Sustain, with the launch of its couture collection titled ‘The Miniaturist’.
The Gen Next program will see the new talent of the five labels selected to make their debut on the ramps of LFW F/W18, namely JAJABOR, YAVI, SWGT, AUR, ANURAG GUPTA. Newly launched ‘The Platform’ in association with Smartwater will present three emerging designers this season.
Celebrating the rich heritage of Indian handloom and indigenous craft, The Sustainable Fashion Day will be held on 23rd of August. Revolving around Rajasthani & Odisha handwoven fabrics to khadi weaves and Kanjivaram to ecological fibers, it will showcase big and small names standing up for the cause of Sustainability.
Among these are Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Digital Empowerment Foundation presents #ArtisansOfDigitalAge, Craftmark X KA- SHA, Monisha Jaisingh, Abraham & Thakore, Amit Aggarwal, Ritu Kumar, Narendra Kumar, Kallol Datta, Ashish N Soni, Nachiket Barve, Gaurang, Pankaj & Nidhi. The highlight of the day would be the show by Rajesh Pratap Singh in collaboration with TENCEL.
Keeping the legacy of giving the chance to fresh faces high, six models will make a runway debut this season along with 29 fresh faces chosen for aLL-The Plus Size Store’s show.
The Lakmé Fashion Week is jointly organized by Lakmé and IMG Reliance Pvt. Ltd. Occurring twice every year, it was created with the sole vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world.”
