In order to uplift India-Japan relations pertaining to the fashion industry, and strengthen its partnership with the Embassy of Japan, the FDCI has announced a show by Japanese designer, Atsushi Nakashima, at the upcoming Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week. The LMIFW in association with NEXA will hold its Spring Summer’19 edition from October 10 to 13 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi and the show by Atsushi is scheduled for October 12.
Winner of the 20th Onward Fashion Grand Prix, Atsushi Nakashima completed his graduation from the Nagoya Fashion College in 2001 and moved to Paris in 2004. His aesthetics come from his Japanese background and his experience of working as an assistant designer with Jean Paul Gaultier. He launched his own namesake brand in 2011 in Japan. The designer deals with clean lines and crisp silhouettes while achieving the perfect balance of urban aesthetics of active-wear and business casuals.
H.E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India said, “FDCI and the Embassy of Japan have been enjoying a great partnership with each other, and I have been discussing with Mr. Sunil Sethi, President of FDCI, how to promote and expand exchanges between the fashion industries of India and Japan. Moving forward in this direction, it is our great pleasure to introduce Mr. Atsushi Nakashima, a promising Japanese fashion designer, to the Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week in association with NEXA Spring Summer 2019.”
“There is no doubt that the Japanese are trend setters not just in the world of technology but also design. And they truly understand the nuances of style as they have given the world the idea of celebrating imperfection and of course Kinstugi, the art of not discarding what’s broken but paying homage to it. So this association will be fruitful both academically and aesthetically as the land of the rising sun is where a new ideology is born. A special thanks to the Ambassador of Japan and his team for making this possible.” said FDCI President, Sunil Sethi.
