The ongoing India International Garment Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, for the upcoming seasons of Fall/Winter 2018 and Spring/Summer 2019, has top apparel exporters and buyers exchanging notes and numbers for impressive exchange deals that have put India on the global map.
In its 30th year running, the apparel fair has grown in terms of quality and product offering provided by Indian apparel manufacturers. A slew of prints, details, techniques and silhouettes run across product categories for interested buyers to pick and choose from.
Apparel Resources scrutinised and compiled a list of top trends that are visibly set to impact the upcoming seasons.
Though florals can now be labelled as a ‘classic’, there has been a collective approval at the exporter’s end on the trend slowly declining in demand. Florals are a key defining motif and can never completely go out of style so the shift is observed in terms of the motifs merging with other patterns.
This gives rise to mix-and-match or mash-up prints that are heavily in demand followed by beach-y, vacation-inspired prints.
A collective societal transition towards remote living and escapism is the key factor responsible for this shift wherein motifs such as idyllic dragonflies, wasps, starfish and their likes gain momentum.
