The apparel sector is rapidly becoming a significant industrial growth sector in Madhya Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) announced that leading textile firms are investing Rs. 70 crore (US $ 8.4 million) to set up their clothing manufacturing units at the Jetapur Industrial Area.
The Jetapur site, which is over 200 hectares large, is perfectly located for textile manufacturing. So far at Jetapur, land has been allotted to 25 companies, of which Kashida Apparels and Sead Apparels occupy a space at the tip of the iceberg financially and as a change agent for society.
Kashida Apparels Private Limited has invested Rs. 108 crore (US $ 12.94 million) thus far and has already hired over 800 women from 14 nearby villages. Kashida plans to hire 1,500 women by the end of 2024. Sead Apparels, which is a unit of Pearl Global Group, is expected to provide 4,000 jobs, with 90 per cent of the jobs for women.
MPIDC Executive Director Himanshu Prajapati in his speech said, “The apparel sector is playing a pivotal role in driving both economic development and social empowerment by generating mass employment opportunities for women. This reflects our commitment toward comprehensive and sustainable industrial growth and development across Madhya Pradesh.”
Annual reports of MPIDC indicate the steady increase in investments in the textile and garment sectors across Madhya Pradesh as an outcome of investor-friendly policies, abundant skilled labor, and well-set infrastructure.
Construction of some units is ongoing; at the same time, MPIDC is enhancing infrastructure, including drainage systems, to prepare for monsoon and provide for uninterrupted industrial activities.
Madhya Pradesh has emerged as one of the premier destinations for textile firms to set up manufacturing facilities.
