NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) is set to support training programme of sewing operators.
Notably, 75 women from rural belts of Jharkhand will receive training as industrial sewing machine operators at Shahi Exports’ skill development centre in Baridih, Jamshedpur. This centre was established in collaboration with NABARD and Tata Steel Foundation.
At the end of the programme, the women will be given employment opportunities at Shahi’s factories.
Gautam Kumar Singh, GM, NABARD, Regional Office, Jharkhand Ranchi inaugurated the training programme. NABARD is also funding OFPO project for handicraft artisans of Sabar and Mahli community at Nimdih of Patmada block.
Under this project, the CraftTribe Producer Company of these artisans has been formed. Apart from high-quality training, their products are also being sent for marketing to famous fairs, exhibitions in different regions of the country.
Siddharth Shankar, District Development Manager, NABARD said that the products being made by these workers are also being sold through online platforms like Amazon. The executive body of the project is NGO Ambalika.
