
After Epic Group, now the state of Odisha has approved one more project from the global apparel manufacturing giant MAS Holdings. The Sri Lankan-based company MAS Holdings is expected to invest US $ 143 million (Rs. 1,211.87 crore) at Khurda and it will be an integrated textile facility. This initiative is supposed to create almost 5000 job opportunities in the state.
With over 50 apparel manufacturing facilities, MAS Holdings has operations in around 16 countries, mainly in Sri Lanka. It offers employment to more than 1 million people.
The project got approval in a meeting of the high-level clearance authority (HLCA), chaired by Odisha’s CM Mohan Charan Majhi. In this meeting, overall Rs 1.36 lakh crore worth of industrial projects were approved.
It is pertinent to mention here that last year Mahesh Amalean, Chairman, MAS Holdings had met the then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and expressed interest in investing in Odisha.
Apparel Resources has approached the company as well as the Government regarding the details of this project and the reason for its approval taking one year. The details, as and when they arrive, will be shared here.
