Pakistan’s proposed textile policy 2014-19 is set to deliver a 100 per cent boost to textile exports with Rs. 180 billion, an amount which is half of the previous textile policy’s quotes. The draft of the policy adopts a multi-pronged approach wherein it targets skill development, productivity enhancement and creation of 3 million job opportunities. The policy will also encourage adoption of modern management practices, compliance practices and improvement of fibre and product mix, especially for the garment industry. It is also being suggested that liabilities worth Rs. 47 billion from the previous policy get paid under this policy.
