A group of exporters fighting for transparency in the working of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) have moved court to execute EVS (electronic voting system) in its election process and appointment of an independent observer to supervise the elections. Though the honourable Delhi High Court denied stay on the AGM (annual general meeting) of AEPC which was held on the 26th of September, the exporters are looking forward to the next date of hearing in December 2014.
“We want things to be done as per norms and ensure that the welfare of small exporters is taken care of, but the AEPC is non responsive, so we had no other option but to move the court,” said J L Sehgal, a member of the Apparel House Exporters Association. The writ petition makes some serious allegations against the AEPC.
