The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council has urged the Government to exempt quality control order on the import of manmade fibre textiles made under the advance authorisation.
Recently, the Government enacted quality control regulations for many products, including manmade fibre textiles products like fibre and yarn.
The Chairman of the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council, Bhadresh Dodhia, stated that imports made for re-export after a specific value-add are excluded from compliance with the quality control order for textiles.
“On similar lines, raw materials imported against Advance Authorisations are also used for the manufacture of finished products that are subsequently exported,” said Dodhia.
According to him, the Foreign Trade Policy has sufficient built-in measures and systems to ensure that finished items made from raw materials imported with advance authorizations are exported within the required time frame.
Additionally, he said that items imported with advance authorisation are subject to actual user conditions and are not transferrable even after the required export obligation has been fulfilled.
However, he added, quality control on imports is generally welcomed as it will guarantee the availability of high-quality raw materials in the nation and stop the import of subpar items.
