Aslam Sheikh, Maharashtra’s Textile Minister has said that with the help of state’s textile policy, the state will bring about a revolution in the textile sector. “Our view in the entire process is that the Government benefits and the weavers also benefit from it,” he added.
Addressing the textile and powerloom associations at Bhiwandi, the Minister said that he wanted to understand the issues faced by weavers in the state and address them in the new textile policy to be framed by the Government in the next one year.
The Minister is touring powerlooms in Bhiwandi, Malegaon, Solapur and Ichalkaranji to discuss the issues faced by weavers and address the same in the next policy.
Maharashtra is one of the leading states in India having thousands of
textile and apparel factories. Maharashtra Government gives impetus to Textile sector with the New Textile Policy 2018-2023.
The new textile policy of Maharashtra was declared on 15 February 2018. The recent policy (2018-2023) of the state had aimed to create over 10 lakh jobs in the five years and double the farmers’ income by the year 2023. It was said that the policy would attract investment worth Rs. 36,000 crore.
