Struggling badly to survive, Orient Craft, once a leading Indian apparel exporter of India, has closed its one more unit in Noida.
This unit (D3, Sector 59) had around 800 stitching machines and was one of the main factories of the company. The company now has no operations in Noida.
The export house has already closed its operations from Ranchi (Jharkhand) and around its 7 factories across Noida, Ranchi, Gurgaon and Chopanki (Bhiwadi, Rajasthan) are now completely closed.
A notice is posted on the gate of the unit which mentioned, “The salary of workers will be deposited by 12th or 14th December and as there are no orders, the decision to reopen the factory has not been finalised. The management is doing its best to bring business though it will take some time. We hope once we receive orders, we will take a decision to reopen the factory soon.”
The notice also urged the workers to cooperate till the company start operating again.
However, highly placed officials of the company told Apparel Resources that since there are no orders with the company and the financial condition also not being good, it is difficult to start these factories again.
It is also pertinent to mention here that several rumours are floating in the market with regard to the company and the top management still hasn’t come forward with any written or verbal message for its employees.
