Panipat (Haryana) will finally have what Ludhiana and Tirupur don’t! One of the biggest home furnishing product manufacturing hubs of India will finally get to see its own exhibition centre.
Thousands of entrepreneurs of this ‘Textile City’ had been demanding for a exhibition centre for a long time and the Government seems to have now fulfilled their demand by confirming the allotment of 4 acres land for the project. The Government will be investing around Rs. 43 crore in setting up the exhibition centre.
Few years back, the Government had allocated land for the exhibition centre at Sector 25, Part I in the city but it was cancelled due to some reasons. Two years ago, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani too had assured to give the city its exhibition centre.
And, finally it is happening!
Vipul Goyal, Industry Minister of Haryana, recently held a meeting with the representatives of Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) and assured to take care of all the issues of the industry.
While speaking to Apparel Resources, Vishnu Goyal, President, HCCI, said “It is a big relief to Panipat’s textile and all other industries. The state Government seems to be on delivery mode and we have a gut feeling that it will not be lingering further on this issue as process has already started. We are hopeful that in next one year there will be good progress in this direction.”
It is pertinent to mention here that not only Panipat but also few other textile and garment hubs like Ludhiana and Tirupur don’t have a state-of-the-art exhibition centre to organise its various sourcing and technology events.
With an annual turnover of more than US $ 1 billion (Rs. 7,000 crore), Panipat has over 3,500 textile-based units with very few of them into garmenting.
