Telangana’s Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give Rs. 1,000 crore as one-time grant-in-aid for the Warangal Textile Park.
The state intends to develop the textile park in 2,000 acres. The park will have an all-inclusive textiles value chain facility.
An investment of around Rs. 1,600 crore is required to develop the infrastructure facilities in the park. While Rs. 1,000 crore has been sought from the Centre, rest will be met from the State Government’s resources.
The CM was in Delhi and had a meeting with the Prime Minister. The demand has come in order to give a fillip to the textile sector in the state.
If Central Government accepts the demand of the State Government, then it will give a big boost to the Warangal Textile Park as well as the state textile industry.
It is worth mentioning here that Telangana is one of the states in India where textile and apparel industry is emerging strongly.
Apart from Indian apparel manufacturing giants like Kitex Group and Gokaldas Images, who announced their investment recently in the state, leading global player Youngone Corporation is also soon going to start its operations in the state.
Telangana, the second-largest producer of cotton in India, produces over 60 lakh bales of long-staple cotton production annually.
The CM also urged the PM to sanction the Hyderabad-Nagpur and the Warangal-Hyderabad industrial corridor projects.
The State Government is focusing on the overall development of the state and has created 33 districts from the earlier 10.
