After falling for five consecutive months, apparel export from Tirupur has seen a marginal positive growth in January 2023.
Tirupur exporters hope to start the coming financial year with good growth in June 2023 quarter compared to March 2023 quarter.
Tirupur Exporters’ Association’s (TEA) data says that knitwear exports from Tirupur grew 1.5 per cent at US $ 413 million while overall, knitwear exports from India grew 0.9 per cent at US $ 751 million during January 2023 compared to US $ 744 million in January 2022.
Total knitwear exports from Tirupur for the last 10-month period remained at US $ 3.713 billion as against US $ 3.591 billion in the previous year period, an increase of 3.4 per cent.
Business line quoted K M Subramanian, President, TEA that the knitwear segment has seen some improvements now when compared with December 2022 quarter. The cotton yarn movement that was sluggish over six months has now got revived. With increasing enquiries/orders from garment units, the spinning mills have now started running for seven days as against the earlier four days.
