
Well-known Indian companies Vardhman Spinning & General Mills Ltd. and Pratibha Syntex have been conferred with Birla Economic & Textile Research Foundation Awards.
Vardhman Spinning & General Mills Ltd. got this prestigious award for 2019-20 for “COVID-19 and equipping the Textiles and Clothing Workforce,” while Pratibha Syntex got the same for 2020-21 for “Sustainable and Innovative Manufacturing in Textile Mills.”
The awards were conferred upon by the Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh and Narendra Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare during the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) – Cotton Development & Research Association (CDRA) golden jubilee celebrations at Delhi.
Lalit Mahajan, VP, Vardhman Textiles Ltd. and Shreyaskar Chaudhary, Managing Director, Pratibha Syntex received these awards.
Delighted over receiving the award, Lalit Mahajan told Apparel Resources, “With our best practices across the business, we will continue our efforts to build our nation. This award is a recognition of our efforts.”
Both companies are well known for their sustainable and CSR activities, besides supporting the cotton farmers.

CITI Birla Economic & Textile Research Foundation distributes award every year for outstanding research in any branch of textile industry or its allied branches. It was started in 1993-94.

On this occasion, CITI also honoured with lifetime achievement awards for contribution towards the cotton developmental activities to Prem Malik, Co-Chairman, CITI CDRA Standing Committee on Cotton & Past Chairman, CITI and P.D. Patodia, Chairman, CITI-CDRA Standing Committee on Cotton & Past Chairman, CITI and Suresh Kotak Member, Standing Committee on Cotton & Chairman, Kotak Ginning & Pressing Industries Ltd.
