The attendees came adorning their best winter attires at the ongoing 60th India International Garment Fair for the Autumn/Winter 2018-19 season. The apparel fair is currently being held in the national capital’s Pragati Maidan.
People are forgoing razzmatazz for practical comfort wear and silhouettes are becoming simpler than ever. Normcore layering and a hint of the anti-fashion footwear movement were spotted in abundance at the garment event.
There is also a very clear shift towards soft fabrics and people seem to be going for self-textured materials instead of any ornamentation or embroidery. The visitors are favouring thin trans-seasonal jackets that can be layered or removed to be tied at the waist, as was the case with many. Even though people are bundling up for the harsh winter, there is unquestionably a sense of ‘transitional’ feeling to the clothing being worn.
The colours in focus are a mix of military green, navy blue and browns as well as a multitude of tonal nudes. In terms of accessorising, scarves were a common sight but people are keeping their prints to a minimum with most of them choosing simple short scarfs in plain colours.
