Personal protective equipment (PPE) kits are in huge demand these days!
And now Noida manufacturers too have decided to produce PPE kits and face masks in response to the increase in the demand of protective gears owing to the crisis by COVID-19.
With the approval of district administration and State Government, some garment manufacturers have already started with the production. Notably, for the production of PPE Kits, N-95 masks and three-layered masks, the state industrial department has received 39 applications for the approval.
Almost 20 manufacturing units will be producing 50,000 PPE kits and masks daily, and will employee at least 3,000 staff and tailors, informed a representative body of manufacturers and exporters of apparel products, Noida Apparel Export Cluster (NAEC).
While emphasising on maintaining norms and social distancing, Lalit Thukral, President, NAEC, shared “The Government has agreed to give relaxation to our workers during the lockdown. The companies will soon begin the manufacturing of PPE kits and masks after getting the administrative approval.”
He further informed that the PPE kits will be made of light weight and water repellant, laminated non-woven fabrics. The kits will be synthetic with good air permeability and blood-penetration resistance. The special sealing tapes block the entry of viruses, bacteria and micro-organisms.
Anil Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of District Industries Centre (DIC) has informed that 39 firms have requested for approval and they will be getting approval soon. A few of them have already started with the production of protection gears.
Reportedly, the Government has instructed all the companies to follow standard Government rates for A+ quality. The Ministry of Health has fixed the price of PPE kits to Rs. 900 (including taxes) for best quality, Rs. 700 plus tax for medium range and Rs. 600 plus taxes for the simple ones.
Pallavi Agarwal, who runs a garment export company in Noida Phase 2 that has recently started making PPE kits, said “The garment companies will be able to earn only about 5 per cent profit on a kit. In the production of a Rs. 900 PPE kit, our workers will get Rs. 200 and the material, manufacturing and transportation cost will be around Rs. 625. We have started the production of kits so that workers can earn some money.”
