Woodland, India’s leading brand of shoes and outerwear, is increasing its focus on the apparel segment.
Harkirat Singh, MD of the company, told Apparel Resources, “In footwear, we have a big footprint and now we are expanding our apparel range. We are increasing our apparel business through online platforms as well as our own and multi-brand stores.”
He added “People need products made with the help of good technology in a reasonable price. After Covid, they want to spend less and want better quality.”
The company not only has in-house apparel manufacturing, but also is associated with vendors to outsource the same.
“Indian apparel market has big potential and is growing very fast; things are now quite normal so the market will grow much faster. People are looking for brands which give value for money and also good products,” he said and further added that the company is also expanding its in-house capacities and working in hubs like Tirupur and Bengaluru.

The brand is also looking for new partners who have good technology and can deliver newer type of products.
The company, which offers jackets, denim, tees, sweaters and sweatshirts, is witnessing growth in every category.
“We are looking more for summerwear as India is mainly a summerwear market, and winter is short in India. We are looking for a technical product because when people go for track, they need garments that are lightweight, antimicrobial, sweat observing, quick dry, etc.”
Woodland is also working with the Indian army and offers specialised garments to the soldiers.
“We have to promote Make in India and whatever is being imported by the army; we are trying to indigenise that,” he concluded.
