During these challenging times when job losses and salary cuts are among the biggest challenges for companies and working professionals, hiring of hundreds of professionals by a company is positive news. More than that, the shift in the focused market and extended product categories is also worth appreciating, as it is need of the hour.
India’s leading textile and home furnishing giant, Trident Group, Ludhiana, has announced the hiring of 500 professionals. The focus of this hiring will remain on e-commerce operations.
The company is also in the process of hiring medical textile professionals. It has plenty of job opportunities for technologists and technocrats who have good experience in the medical textile industry and can develop healthcare textiles, product efficiency and quality.
This hiring is a part of the company’s business strategy, as it is now looking at the domestic market in a big way.
In the last one month, the Group has come up with a completely new range of textile products, aggressively marketing for the same.
It is quite evident that now and post COVID-19, the export business will be impacted badly, so the company is now targeting the domestic market in a big way and has formed a strategy to tap the market through e-commerce. So far, Trident Group has been mainly into export, especially in traditional markets like the EU and the US.
Apart from its yarn and home furnishing businesses, Trident – the US $ 1 billion company – is also in paper, chemicals and energy sectors.
So far, export was growing for the Group; as of 2018-19, it had around 57 per cent revenue share from export, while the rest was from the domestic market. This share from overseas markets increased by 2 per cent compared to 2017-18, while from the domestic market, the share decreased by 2 per cent during the same period.
In past few months, Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Trident Group, announced heavy investments including Rs. 3,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 1,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir.
Apparel Resources got confirmed information about the new hiring process from two senior officials of the company who refused to share more details.
On its social media account, the company says, “Taking a leap towards selling our offerings to millions of potential global customers, Trident Group is expanding its operations in the e-commerce domain. We invite applications from people who are passionate and can help us expand our reach digitally and make our products the preferred choice in international markets.”
“We are focusing on e-commerce in a big way, as in the future it is going to be more lucrative so we have started the process,” shares a CXO level official of the company on the condition of anonymity.
So far, nearly 50 people are working in the e-commerce team and the process continues further. Another official of the company informs, “We have got decent interest from various quarters regarding various product ranges.” It is noteworthy that not only foreign buyers, but Government agencies are also placing good orders with the company.
It is pertinent to mention here that Trident Group has started focusing a lot on the manufacturing of products like disinfectant masks, PPEs, bed sheets with special coatings and other textile products related to health.
