More and more Indian states are alluring investment in textile and apparel industry. Madhya Pradesh is one such state.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh, which recently held a roundtable conference with several textile and apparel companies in Delhi, has now formed a committee to draft textile policy of the state.
The committee will give its detailed report in one month covering all the aspects of development of textile and apparel industry in the state.
This state-level committee is headed by Chief Secretary of the state, with good representation from industry’s trade associations and senior bureaucrats of the state.
Focusing on employment generation, developing infrastructure and modernisation of the textile and apparel industry, this policy will cover the entire supply chain.
Senior representatives of MP Textile Mills Association, Madhyanchal Cotton Ginner and Traders Association, Readymade Garments Association-Jabalpur are also members of this committee.
It is pertinent to mention here that Indore, which has the distinction of being one of the leading apparel manufacturing hubs of Madhya Pradesh, already has some huge units of well-known companies like Vardhman Textiles Ltd., Trident Ltd., Pratibha Syntex, Maral Overseas, etc., in addition to attracting bigwigs like Gokaldas Exports and Richa Global Exports, among others.
