
K Chandrashekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana (India) has directed Government officials to formulate plans for the welfare of handloom weavers in the state. It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of weavers in the state have opted for other work.
Absence of proper support for weavers has forced many to end their lives in the state. According to reports, many handloom weavers are employed with powerloom industry as labourers.
The crisis ridden handloom sector needs to be given a market for its products. The Government can place orders for various handloom products to keep the industry running.

The CM also emphasized to restore the glory of specialty brands like Gollabhama sarees from Siddipet. The Gollabhama sarees also known as Siddipet Gollabhama saris are woven in the Siddipet city of Telangana. The art of weaving this saree is on the verge of extinction.
