
Brands have been gearing up for the enormous amount of sales they expect during the festive season and Khadi India has experienced unprecedented sales even before festive season has begun.
Yes, it has clocked its highest ever sales in a single-day.
Khadi India’s flagship store in Connaught Place recorded single-day sale of Rs. 1.27 crore on 2 October, Gandhi Jayanti, owing to Mahatma Gandhi who made the indigenous fabric a part of India’s Independence Movement.
The store has broken its record from previous year when it clocked in sales of Rs. 1.25 crore on 13 October.
“While the sale of Khadi products at Khadi India’s flagship store in Connaught Place was recorded Rs. 1.27 crore on a single day on 2 October this year, this sale is the highest ever since Independence. A customary discount sale starts from 2 October every year by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on Khadi products across the nation,” the KVIC said in a statement.
Around 16,870 purveyors of Khadi visited the flagship store at Connaught Place on 2 October, and a total number of 2,720 sales bills were issued.
“Out of over Rs. 127.57 lakh sale, the share of Khadi was Rs. 114.11 lakh and village industry products Rs. 13.46 lakh,” the KVIC stated.
KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena said the record sale is the result of the cause of Khadi being taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has communicated his vision of economic transformation through Khadi clearly, creatively and continually.
