“Now we will work under her direction…,” said the father; while his confident daughter replied, “I have to fit into his shoes…” The occasion was the launch of a new Look Book to showcase the latest collections of Affordable Exports, New Delhi that completed two decades of its inception. Headed by Rajiv Kapoor, the company has recently welcomed his talented daughter, Aastha as the new Creative Director. A graduate from Pearl Academy of Fashion and post-graduate in design from NIFT, Aastha officially joined her father’s company with the release of the Look Book at the recently concluded IIGF in a small but fascinating event.
The creativity and vision of Aastha, who has experience of working with Asmara Apparels, Millenium Clothing Inc. and Adidas Group, was noticeable in her Look Book, which was launched by Krishan K Chaudry, a US-based buyer sourcing from India for the last many years. Focusing on Spring/Summer 2016, the Look Book showcases an interesting collection comprising of kaftans, shorts, bosky bandeaus, dresses, jumpsuits, blouses, pants, tropical tops, skirts and summer jackets. “She has done a fantastic job and I am sure that it will lead to more and more business for her company,” said Chaudry.
Whichever buyer visited the stall of Affordable Exports, was happy with the collections of the company and appreciated the work and skills of Aastha. The company is expecting reasonably good orders from buyers.
JL Sehgal, MD, Kiran Associates, Gurgaon; Ratnesh Malhotra, Director, BLM Clothing, Delhi; and CD Mehta, MD, Shah Originals, Jaipur were present at the occasion who also appreciated the Look Book. Happy and humbled by the positive response to the new initiative by his daughter, Rajiv told Apparel Online, “She has proper education in design and is very enthusiastic about her work, which makes us all the more sure about her success. We look forward to the new directions which she will show to the company. With little changes to be more impactful as a company, I will follow my father who is my inspiration,” added Aastha who will focus on marketing and product development in the organization.
