
Apart from taking sustainable initiatives in own manufacturing plants, some of the companies are interestingly creating awareness at the school level also. In one such effort, on the occasion of International Day of Clean Air for Blue Sky, Vardhman Textiles, Ludhiana organised an event at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Mundian Kalan.
The intent of the event was to spread awareness about environment conservation amongst school children, and so was its theme also of ‘healthy air, healthy planet’.
The event was held in association with Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), representatives of which remained present at the venue to encourage school children.
The students were encouraged to illustrate their creativity by painting their ideas for a healthier planet with clean air.
The painting competition was followed by cultural activities and delivering of speech by students discussing ways and need to control pollution. Over 80 students from the school participated in the event and were provided appreciation gifts.
Senior officials from PPCB Ludhiana judged the competition and addressed the students.
Team Vardhman, Rikki Raj, Arvind Jha, Raju, Parmod, Mukesh Kumar and Dhiraj Mehta actively supported the students.
Notably, Vardhman had previously also organised awareness sessions on other significant issues in the schools.
Sushil Kumar, Principal of the school, thanked the teams of Vardhman and PBCB for this initiative.
