Right from local administration to NITI Aayog, everyone has been heaping praises on Arvind Ltd.’s Ranchi unit and deservedly so.
The unit, as per factory officials, has been consistently producing 500 to 600 personal protective equipment (PPEs) every day.
Sharing a video of Arvind Ltd.’s Ranchi unit, DC Ranchi tweeted, “This one-of-a-kind initiative was possible because of @Arvind_Limited who undertook the production of PPEs at subsidised rates through their CSR funds. The raw material for PPEs has been procured by District Administration, Ranchi.”
Notably, in India, DC (Deputy Commissioner) is the highest or top civil officer in a district.

NITI Aayog (a policy think tank of the Government of India) also tweeted with the images of same unit, “The employees at Arvind Mills in #AspirationalDistrict Ranchi are making Personal Protective Equipment kits for #COVID19 frontline workers across Jharkhand.”

It is also pertinent to mention here that as per official claims, the district administration, Ranchi has so far produced 7,000 ICU Grade PPEs using SITRA-certified raw materials at a cost of just Rs. 250.
The company happy with this appreciation, said “Arvind is proud to have worked closely with the Government of India and Ministry of Textiles. Collaboration with the Jharkhand Government is a fine example of Make in India & public-private partnership success. We will do all that we can to contribute to the fight against COVID-19.”
A senior official of this unit told Apparel Resources, “Workers are treated here very well and the unit took all initiatives to keep their morale high. This unit is so capable that orders of Arvind’s Bengaluru-based factories are also shifted here.”
Here it is important to note that before manufacturing PPEs, this Ranchi unit used to make garments for a global brand.
