
Department of Fashion Technology of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi organized Graduating Event – Techno Summit & Technova, wherein students of graduating batch 2014 were awarded for their best projects.
Among the many interesting and industry focused projects, the project ‘To understand & propose methods for estimating remuneration of embroidery home workers’ of Sushir Kumar; Manohar Kumar Ram’s project, ‘Development of cost efficient auto arm cutter’; and Neha Singh’s ‘Marketing strategies for women’s wear of ABC India’ emerged the winners in three categories from Master of Fashion Technology course.
In the Bachelor of Fashion Technology course category, Ravi Shehkar and Subham Tilara won all three awards for their project, ‘Development of quick needle change mechanism for single needle lockstitch machine’. Dhruv Sharma, a student of B.Ftech, Jodhpur centre, won the ‘Most innovative project and most commercially viable project’ award for RFID Systems Implementation and Cost-Benefit Analysis on a sewing floor. As a career move Dhruv has chosen to work with StitchWorld.

A concurrent seminar on the theme ‘Integrating CSR activities into Apparel Manufacturing’ was also organized in which industry experts discussed in detail the concept of CSR in context to garment manufacturing.
Harkirat Singh, MD, Woodland; Dinesh Kumar, Director, Designinnova; and Ranjeeb Sarma, Programme Head Textile & Cotton, Solidaridad gave away the awards.
