Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), India’s largest vocational training network for the apparel sector, recently organized a workshop on ‘Fabric and Garment Testing’ at its Gurgaon (Haryana) campus, to upgrade the knowledge base of students in fabric and garment testing segment. More than 50 students attended the workshop.
“I believe that the fabric and garment testing demonstration provides an insight into the quality requirement for target consumer. Such workshops are means to convey the significance of fabric testing by putting up a practical illustration of the standard fibre and fabric that are essential in Product Development,” averred Manju Singh, Principal – ATDC Centre Gurgaon.

The workshop provided attendees a hand-on training in fibre analysis, physical properties, chemical properties, fabric strength, colour fastness, and to enrich the skill levels of Industry Personnel. Amit Saluja, Senior Laboratory Manager at TÜV Rheinland – which offers neutral and independent support and fundamental specialist knowledge in detecting and evaluating harmful materials and hazardous substances, performance and safety in all kinds of textile products – was the Industry Expert who conducted this workshop. “Textile testing is an important key in every stage of textile field for analysis of a material or product to assess its performance to confirm the compliance on regulatory norms,” mentioned Saluja.

An ATDC student who attended the workshop shared his experience, “Having witnessed the workshop, I feel that I have learned a lot of things that I couldn’t have possibly known by theoretical reading. All the information dawned upon me in a nut shell, be it fabric or related testing at each stage. Being a trainee, from my perspective the workshop was really helpful in understanding of what all we studied till now. It will also help me in future as Testing Knowledge is beneficial in garment development process.”
