
A leading manufacturer of workwear, Kolkata based Amrit Exports, has recently taken-up a number of initiatives towards strengthening of its internal operations, while also moving forward with a combination of CSR and compliance related schemes like SA8000. The company with the aim of achieving total operational transparency and centralized information flow is in the process of implementing Oracle E-Business Suite release 12. Speaking to StitchWorld, Anil Buchasia, Director, Amrit Exports said, “With the implementation of Oracle ERP we are able to integrate and network department-specific information domains, throughout the organization.”
Exporting to several international work-wear suppliers, Amrit Exports has always been a very forward thinking and technology savvy company. The company is also setting up a dyeing unit for knitted garments in an effort to backward integrate. “The dyeing unit is designed to be a green unit deriving energy from solar power for which we plan to install captive solar power plant,” informed Anil. “This integration is also important as we plan to expand the work-wear segment providing complete work-wear solutions ranging from basic T-shirts to a high risk EN Certified garment,” added Anil. Worth an investment of Rs. 28 crores, the knitting plant would have the capacity of dyeing 11 tonnes of knitted fabric per day.
