Hikari (Shanghai) Precise Machinery Science & Technology Co. Ltd., a leading Chinese sewing technology provider, has launched hot air seam sealing machine to produce the body coverall, a major product in PPE kits.
The launch has come at a time when the manufacturing industry is witnessing scarcity of seam sealing technology in these unprecedented times of COVID-19.
Hikari has launched the machine under model number *QILi*-XL-A2, and the same is available in the markets wherever Hikari operates, including India.
It’s worth mentioning here that the apparel manufacturers are now transitioning into PPE manufacturing in India to cater to not only domestic demand, but also the huge queries they are receiving from other countries.
“Right now the Indian Government has enforced a ban on exporting PPE, but, sooner or later, the ban is going to be lifted and India is all set to become a huge exporter of PPE kits. We have sensed this need and have geared up to provide the manufacturers here with hot air seam sealing technology of Hikari to assist them in their endeavours,” told M. Srinivasan, Country Manager, Hikari India, while speaking to Apparel Resources.
One Hikari QILi-XL-A2 machine can seal seams of around 6 body coveralls per hour and, depending on how operators operate the machine, the output can be increased by 10 per cent. “In an eight-hour shift, the machine can process 48 pieces,” informed Srinivasan.
Srinivasan further informed that the cost of this machine is 30 per cent less than what its competitors are offering in India in current situation. “We are here to assist the industry in these tough times; profits can be made once the industry is settled post-COVID,” claimed Srinivasan.
A few of the early adopters of Hikari seam sealing machines are Honeywell creation, CAREON Health Care, Sulochana Mills and Facctum Wears.
The domestic production of body coveralls, at present, in India has reached around 2 lakh pieces per day which was negligible almost 2 months back.
Markedly, the big manufacturing companies such as Shahi Exports, Texport Syndicate, Gokuldas Exports, Matrix Clothing, Aditya Birla among hundreds of SMEs are supporting the Government in their appeal to supply PPE kits to save frontliners.
