Eastman offers a wide range of cutting and plotting systems that are designed to be compatible with most off-the-shelf software available in the market. Manufactured with the highest quality materials, built with precise specifications, and subject to rigorous testing, the company’s line of cloth cutting machines have been setting the standard for over 100 years and providing improved productivity and cutting room efficiency to its users.
Of the machines on display at the event, was Eastman’s MPC-5000 multi-ply cutting system, an automated reciprocating straight knife cutter with a conveyor that is capable of cutting up to 5 cm (2”) of compressed material. The powerful conveyor drive system moves the fabric from the spreading table to the cutting area where a polyethylene film automatically covers the lay to create an airtight seal. A five stage vacuum turbine with silencer ensures material edge hold down during the cutting process. The machine is equipped with a standard reciprocating knife with modular 4-disc sharpening stones to automatically sharpen the knife, and an optional single/dual hollow punch pneumatic drill.
In addition, the ‘intellicut’ knife control software improves the lay cut from the top to bottom ply.
MPC-5000 is capable of reporting faults, and can alert the operator in case the machine requires maintenance. It is equipped with a network based distributed motion control system, which incorporates machine intelligence with additional diagnostic, performance and reliability benefits and has a touch screen display for operator convenience. The machine that is in network can be accessed by the service technicians from off-site in real-time. The cutting area is made up of a long-lasting bristle blocks, allowing the knife to pierce the fabric without damage. Some of the other features offered by the machine include a dual X, Y and Theta axis rack and pinion drive with brushless servo motors and dust/debris filter and a touch screen display.
Compatible with ‘eSuite’ software, such as eCut, eCad, eNest, eShape and eSelect, it can be fitted with additional options such as a lateral drive motorised device for moving the cutter from one spreading table to another, and a width reducer, capable of reducing the cutting width adding an airtight strip on the unused area of the cutting bed.
