Apparel Resources had put it first on March 2 that ‘Tussle over 59th IIGF’s venue continues; things will be clearer in 7 days’. And now a confirmed input has arrived according to which – the 59th edition of IIGF has been shifted to Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Ashok Rajani, Chairman, AEPC confirmed the new venue for the 59th India International Garment Fair (IIGF) and assured maximum possible subsidy to the exhibitors. The fair will be held concurrently with Textiles India 2017, which will cover the entire textile supply chain, not just apparels or accessories like IIGF. On being asked Why Gandhinagar…? Ashok answered, “The exhibition centre there is world-class.”

Small- and medium-level exporters will also participate in the show in good numbers as there is no other option for them; also, they do want to support the Government’s initiative.
Though AEPC was of the opinion that this established fair – IIGF – should take place separately and not along with Textiles India 2017. But there was dilemma over hosting two sourcing fairs in India that too within 20 days and the Government providing funds for both.
Celebrating 30 years of its initiation, IIGF is the biggest sourcing event for Indian apparel exporters which has been taking place in New Delhi for the last three decades. The reason behind this shift is the organization of a mega event – Textile India Conclave and Exhibition by the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) in Gandhinagar from June 30 to July 2.
