Asia’s largest and the world’s second largest Terry Towel producer, the textiles giant Welspun India Limited is aiming to repurpose its business to align with the ‘new normal’.
The textiles company is now looking at making e-commerce a priority to cater to the end-users, expecting both its plants to run at at least 70 to 80 per cent capacity this year.
“This is the time to look at how we can re-look at our businesses, the purpose of business, what we are looking at and if we can really continue to do what we are doing,” Dipali Goenka, CEO and Joint Managing Director, Welspun India Ltd., told PTI, further adding that the company is positively working in this direction.
Talking about the company’s plans to enhance its online presence, Dipali shared that they intend to look at innovative ways to reach out to their customers. They are exploring various advanced options like working on e-catalogue to target customers and collaborating with their distributors to reach out to their customers directly through them.
Welspun’s existing portals in India and the UK have witnessed exponential traffic growth during the ongoing pandemic, she informed.
Commenting on how they are ensuring to take care of their workers and employees during COVID-19, Dipali shared they are paying all the salaries on time and will continue to do so.
Dipali maintained that they are “looking at automation, digitisation… looking at up-skilling our people… that’s where our energies are focused on.”
