A&E and Gütermann boast of some highly technical and well-equipped labs in all their facilities in India and the one that is located in the Bawal plant is being used as a tech centre and a service centre to serve all the customers wherever they are stuck in their technical operations. Consulting is one of the major services which is provided to their customers through a well-equipped sewing lab with all sort of new-age sewing machines such as SNLS, Overlock, Heavy Duty SNLS, Flat Lock, Button-Hole, Blind Hem, Zigzag Sewing, Eyelet Button Hole, and Flat Seamer offered by premium sewing brands such as Juki, Duerkopp Adler, Pegasus, Seiko, and Yamato among others that perform testing on sewing threads and fabrics. The lab also has cutting and pressing equipment to recommend the best solutions to the company’s customers.
Well-equipped sewing lab with all sort of new-age sewing machines
The tech centre and lab performs following tasks that aim at giving solutions to the customers for their thread and stitching needs –
- Quality Improvement through Regular Random Testing: The company does random testing of the threads in this lab where different machines are used as per different garment applications, needles and fabrics, and this is what makes the group far superior than other thread manufacturers in the market. Apart from this, if a customer sends fabric for recommendation, this sewing lab also recommends what type of needle goes best with that fabric, or if this needs any attachment, handling or puller, while performing an operation.
- How to Select Right Thread: The sewing lab determines the type of thread by analysing garment applications, fabrics, GSM, and last but not the least washes. It starts from Tex 18 and goes on to increase its size as per fabric’s requirements.
- Technical Shopfloor Presentation: Apart from in-house solutions, technically expert team visits garment shopfloor on factories’ demand wherein they give practical solutions on the issues faced by the sewing operators. This team determines which needle goes best for a garment product; what machine setting needs to be done for best output, and if machines require replacement of any part! Many factories might not have the upgraded machines, high-quality attachments and other facilities in factories which this sewing lab has; so it is imperative to walk across factories with less amenities and show solutions on the existing equipment.
- Making Seam Samples for Buyers &Customers: The lab makes seam samples with the best suitable thread on a relevant sewing machine and samples are shared with the customers for further production work. We also welcome customers to visit the Tech Centre and carry trials to arrive at right combination of Fabric / Sewing Thread /Needle /Machine and other sewing operations.
- Product Presentation to Buyers and Customers: One of the significant tasks which the sewing lab performs is online demo of its high-quality thread products. The sewing lab identifies what all fabrics can be stitched using its thread products and what advantages this thread can give to over other threads! All these benefits are shown to the customers across India through online demonstration.
- Facility for Industry Partners: The team also provides facility in its sewing lab for its partners such as machine suppliers, and needle suppliers so that they can make their own sewing samples for their customers.

The result is Integrity advanced identification sewing threads. Integrity is an innovative and economical solution for brands and retailers to authenticate and validate their products, anywhere within their supply chains, through a common component – sewing thread.
During our visit to the factory, Team Apparel Online India found out that the company provides swabs to factories as well as buyers to check authenticity of threads in any garment at any point of time. “Our swabs, when dipped in special purpose liquid to identify molecules, need to run around 10 times on the seams and in a few seconds, there will an appearance of pink colour. If the colour doesn’t appear, it means the thread used in the seam is not supplied by us.”
