Supporting garment manufacturing in a big way, Uttar Pradesh, one of the leading states of India, has identified its two cities where apparel parks will be developed in future.
Chaudhary Udaybhan Singh, State Minister MSME & Export Promotion has confirmed this.
Agra, known for leather footwear and Aligarh, another leading city of Uttar Pradesh, will have apparel parks.
These parks will be developed by the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and will be near to expressways. As printing and dyeing clusters are preferred to keep out of Delhi-NCR, Aligarh is the best option for such units. All this will also create employment for people in rural areas and garment units will also gain a lot from it.
While Aligarh is just 170 km away from Delhi, Agra is 240 km away from the national capital.
For the feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR), consultant transaction advisors will soon be appointed.
Notably, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Lucknow are some of the leading apparel manufacturing hubs of the Uttar Pradesh.
